WaveRuler – Sonar Wave and Tidal Monitoring Solution Launches

waverulerOcean Navitas has developed a new cost effective oceanographic solution for monitoring ocean waves and tides called the WaveRuler. The technology is now in its second generation format and has been used continuously and successfully by Ocean Navitas, in various formats, for the last 2 years.

Originally developed as a tool to study potential power generation at possible wave energy converter deployment sites, the WaveRuler is now a versatile and stable monitoring tool to suit ocean monitoring and health and safety applications inc: wave height and period monitoring, water level, safety status monitoring, resource assessment, weather forecasting and tank level monitoring.

The cost effective sonar solution is equipped with both HF Radio and GPRS transmission options (It can even transmit both at the same time).

This means that local users can access the HF Radio radio data transmission of single/multiple WaveRulers within range with a ‘Plug and Play’ USB powered base station connected to any PC or laptop that is loaded with Ocean Navitas’ WaveAnalyser software (supplied with the unit).

This is a particularly useful for shipping and maintenance vessels wishing to access offshore structures such as wind turbines and oil rigs, where accurate and up to date wave height measurement must be established for health and safety.

Likewise port and harbour operators can monitor sea states and tidal levels both inside and outside of harbours to provide accurate data to shipping.

The WaveRuler also transmits data via GPRS to any Network Antenna within range of the unit. This data can be configured to transmit to any remote user via the internet, and the data displayed on any PC loaded with Ocean Navitas’ WaveAnalyser software.
