The awards were supported by BIS (Department for Business Innovation & Skills), and was held at the Lords Cricket Ground in November.  To be nominated in 2 out of 15 categories at the awards is quite an achievement given the calibre of the 300 entries that were received from around the world.

The nomination centred on the innovative Aegir Dynamo wave energy conversion technology and associated testing procedures.

Nigel Fine, IET Chief Executive, said, “The IET Innovation Awards are always a highlight in the engineering calendar.
“Innovation provides solutions to many of the big challenges facing the modern world, such as energy supply and security, reductions in carbon emissions and the wider impact of climate change, healthcare, efficient transport, improved communications and security.

“The winners and short-listed entries have demonstrated ingenuity, creativity and engineering excellence in solving problems or tackling issues which present real challenges to business and the wider world.”
