 In early 2007 Ocean Navitas constructed a small scale prototype of an Aegir Dynamo buoy which was tested in a large specially constructed tank.
The prototype confirmed the operational principle of the Aegir Dynamo and functioned exactly as predicted.
Using basic manufacturing techniques the prototype produced 1.5kWh of electricity, which was limited by the size of permanent magnet alternator used, and confirmed the that the unit could be increased in scale to 1200kW using the same operational principles.
