Waves are created by the natural action of solar energy acting on the planet.

Solar radiation heats up the atmosphere creating differences in atmospheric pressure. This in turn creates wind.

The action of wind across the ocean surface creates ripples, and these ripples are magnified by the constant action of the wind acting on them creating waves.

Therefore Ocean Waves are concentrated solar energy.

The prevailing wave conditions in UK coastal waters are 2.5 meters height travelling at around 8-11 seconds in frequency. Ocean Navitas' technology has been designed to operate at it's maximum rated capacity in these conditions.

The inherent energy in a body of moving water is massive compared to other renewable sources. 1 cubic mater of water weighs approximately 1 tonne; therefore the travelling mass contains a great deal of force.

A good example of the inherent energy in a wave is the following:
> If you were to stand in the sun you would eventually get hot and burn
> If you were to stand in the wind you would eventually get cold and may struggle to stand
> If you were to stand in the way of a 2 meter wave travelling at 6 meters a second you would be washed away.
